Usage
It is suitable for measuring the ability of pressure-sensitive
adhesive tape to maintain adhesion under the condition of
continuous heating and a certain weight in parallel direction.
Shear strength is the ability of adhesive tape to withstand static
force when it is applied to the same plane as base material.
Overview of the test method
A strip of tape unrolled at a controlled speed is pasted onto a
standard steel plate. The steel plate is mounted vertically in an
adjustable heating furnace, then a standard weight is suspended at
the free end of the tape. The temperature of the heating furnace
increases steadily with the controlled speed, and then the shear
failure time is measured.
